Topic SPORT IN OUR LIFE (7 forms)

I would like to start by saying that sport has always played an important role in my life. I am not an athlete but I have always wanted to be fit. Sometimes I work out in the gym, sometimes go for a jog in the park near my house. My friends and I play volleyball, football, …, …, and I’m very good at chess (draughts, other board games).

Some sports and games are very beautiful, for example, figure skating. I enjoy watching figure skating competitions and best of all I like our Russian skater, Eugene Plushenko. He is brilliant, to my mind. Some sports are quite dangerous, for example, martial arts (aikido, karate, judo, taekwondo), mountaineering, surfing. Some sports are very interesting to watch. Formula 1 is a motor race which is very popular with the members of my family. You will remember that there is a Russian team in Formula 1, called Marussia, with Nikolay Fomenko as one of its directors. And it’s very exciting to watch such games as basketball, football, hockey.

Unfortunately, I have never watched a competition at a stadium. I believe that would be a great experience, especially if you’re a fan of some team and they take part in the contest. Some football fans, I have to admit, can be quite dangerous, though. There are a lot of acts of aggression at sports competitions in European countries. Although I don’t attend sports events, I never miss an opportunity to watch the Olympic Games on TV.

The Olympic Games are an international sports festival that began in ancient Greece. The Games were held in honour of Zeus, the most important god for ancient Greeks. In 1896 Pierre de Coubertin, a young French nobleman, brought the Olympic Games back to life. It was agreed that every four years the Olympics would move to another great city of the world. 2014 Winter Olympics are going to be held in Sochi. I wish I could attend this event, it is much spoken about.

As about our school, at our PT lessons we do a lot of sports. We play sports games, train for matches and participate in various competitions. The most common types of athletics involve competitive running, jumping, throwing and walking. Our gym is equipped with balls, basketballs and rings, rackets and nets, skates and skis. In winter there is a skating rink in our school sports ground where we can play hockey or skate.

Skating has always been my favourite sport. I first skated when I was eight. I will always remember the lights of the skating rink and my coach who was helping me and explaining what to do. I have been doing skating since then. The equipment you need is very simple – skates, boots and suitable clothes. The clothes are very important. They should be light and warm. If I had more money, I would buy a good skating suit. I can’t say that I am one of the world’s greatest skaters but I skate well.

That’s what I wanted to tell you about sports in my life.

"Seasons" by Mary Pashkova, 3B

Дорогие ребята, уважаемые родители!

Представляем Вашему вниманию стихотворение "Времена года", которое написала Мария Пашкова.

I like green grass -- it's spring.

It's wonderful, I think.

I like the bright sun -- it's summer,

The favourite season of my mother.

The rain -- it's autumn, what a pity!

But soon the snow will be.

We shall have a Christmas party

And see Santa Claus, maybe.

"William Shakespear", 6 form

William Shakespear was born to John and Mary Shakespear in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 23, 1564. His mother was a daughter of a farmer, his father was a glove-maker. Will went to a grammar school and had quite a good education. He loved reading.

While still a teenager, at the age of 18, William married Anne Hathaway, a farmer's daughter some years older than himself. He had three children, Susannah, the eldest, and then twins -- a son, Hamnet, and another girl Judith.

There is no information how William earned his living during these early years, maybe he helped his father in the family business.

In 1587 Shakespear went to work in London, leaving Anne and his children at home. There is no explanation why he did it. Some people say that the reason was his love of poetry and theatre. In the summer months companies of players often came to small towns and in 1587 five different companies came to Stratford. William and his friend Tobby always went to see the plays. William loved to talk to the actors and to listen to all their stories of London. Once the Queen's Men came to Stratford in June and William and Toby went to see the play. It was a funny play for Toby but William said it was a stupid play with not a word of poetry in it. Tobby suggested Will writing a play himself.

Willian was reading and writing, but he wasn't happy with his life. He said that Stratford was too small, too slow, too boring for him. He wanted to get away and so he did.

But there is another story which says that he had to run away from law because he had killed some deer belonging to a rich man.

In London Shakespear began to act and to write plays and soon became an important member of a well-known acting company. Most of his plays were performed in the new Globe Theatre built on the bank of the River Thames.

In 1613 he stopped writing and went to live in Stratford where he died in 1616.
Four hundred years later his plays are still acted -- not only in England but in the whole world.
His great plays are The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, Julius Ceasar, As You Like It, Twelth Night, Hamlet, All's Well That Ends Well, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth.

Topic "Clothes and Shopping" by Nastya Yantsevich, 3B

My name is Nastya, I am nine, I am from Russia, from Moscow.

I would like to start by saying that we have got a lot of clothes. I have clothes for all seasons. When it is cold I wear trousers, jeans, sweaters, caps, scarves, boots, overcoats, tights, mittens. When it is warm I wear skirts, shorts, dresses, hats, shoes, socks.

I like to wear jeans. I have many jeans of different colours. I wear jeans with blouses and shirts. At home I usually wear a pink skirt, socks and a shirt.

We buy our clothes in the shop. My favourite shops are C&A, H&M, Zara. We usually buy boots, shoes and high boots in Ecco.

My mother and I usually go shopping together. Yesterday we went to the shop to buy me high boots for spring. I wanted to buy black high boots. But mum said that they were the wrong size. My shoes size is ... . Then a saw another pair of high boots, but I didn't like the colour. They were red. Mum gave me grey high boots. I tried them on. "They suit you so well!" said mum. And we bought me the grey high boots.

I like it when my clothes are neat and always put them in my wardrobe. I keep the right thing in the right place.

I have got a lot of clothes. I have clothes for all seasons. I wear trousers, a sweater and a warm coat in winter. I wear jeans and a warm jacket in autumn and spring. I have a raincoat for rainy weather. When it is hot I wear shorts and T-shirts. I have many T-shirts of different colours.

Last Sunday my Mum and I went shopping. We went to a big department store. My mother wanted to buy me a suit, but I wanted new jeans. What can I say, tastes differ! She chose the right size suit which was very nice and I chose a pair of jeans. Then I tried them on. My jeans were the wrong size, Mum changed them. We bought the right size suit and jeans and went home.

Yesterday in the morning I couldn't find my socks, my trousers and my shoes; my mother helped me and said, "Keep the right thing in the right place!"
